The undergraduate course in economics is structured to contribute to the students’ liberal education with a multiplicity of combinations. The programme imparts analytical skills and intellectual maturity to comprehend the complexities in the working of the economy.The course provides a sound theoretical basis in economic theory supplemented by practical applications. The first four semesters are devoted to give a firm background in microeconomics, macroeconomics, development economics and international economics through various triple main courses. In the fifth and sixth semesters, the students take sixteen compulsory papers related to various areas of economics which include a dissertation paper in the final semester. The course is open to all the undergraduate triple major courses (HEP, EPS, Pecos) excluding EMS (Economics, Mathematics and Statistics).
Industrial exposure through internships and visits, mastery in scientific analysis through advanced quantitative methods, statistics, econometrics and latest soft skills make students competent to take up the most challenging careers in business, industry, public sector and advanced academic research.
